Some Independent Quotes

“just brought 200 of these burt 80 so far with no coasters work on x-box a treat the print top is quite good as u get quite good results”

“Tried some out. No problems here either. They are the same style as the datawrite 4x grey tops. Same dye prodisc03, same serial number format and same dye colour. bit of a bargain as i loved the 4x greys. Playback on standalones and readback to HD no problem.”

“Burnt all 75 not one coaster top disc”

“these in my case are the muts nuts”

“just gone through 20 of these in the last couple of hours no probs all write at 4x didnt even have to change the f/w on my picky burner. also speed graphs giving better results than any g04 disc i have tried.”

Flash's Review
I read the report that DVD-Recordable's editor had written about these discs (a compilation of the many good things said on various web forums about these discs) and so I decided I had better find out for myself if it was true what people were saying about them.

I got hold of a tub of 25 to put through their paces. Testing the disc with ADVDINFO I found these discs were manufactured by PRODISC which is a change from the usual PRINCO

My first test burn was to force the burn at 8xspeed with my Pioneer 107 with the patched firmware and the result was 8 minutes and a disc burn that I can be proud of.

The graph is perfect up to 3.5gig and then has a few minor glitches after this. I played back this disc on my very fussy Mustek DVD Player and it played back perfect up to about 10 seconds from the end when the end of the credits stuttered slightly. As you can see the graph never went below the 5x speed mark whilst reading and zero read errors were reported

KProbe tests which give an indication as to the quality of the burn showed very little PO/PI errors just peaking at the outer edge which happens with most discs

I continued to burn various discs at 8x and 4x speed to check the burn consistency and I found the 8x speed graphs were similar to the first burn and the 4x speed burns produced almost perfect graphs

The KProbe results were also a lot better at 4x speed with no peaks at all and I can say they are some of the best results I have seen from any media. Again the results are consistent with every burn I have done so far.

I have now burnt my first tub of 25 of these discs without a single failure. I checked playback compatibility with a variety of different players and found it to be good with smooth playback in all of them. My initial tests have been done on the Pioneer 105,106 &107 with almost the same results with each writer, and I still cannot believe that these Bulkpaq Branded discs are so consistently good.

I intend to carry out further tests in my other makes of writers during the next few days.

The initial results at 8x speed on my Pioneer 107 which is double the rating of the disc is consistent with each burn and I would not hesitate doing all my burning at this speed with these discs

For those of you who doubt my findings, I don’t blame you! I was sceptical when I saw the report that was published without my prior knowledge. All I can say is buy yourself a tub it will not break the bank and then try and prove me wrong. You will be pleasantly surprised. Let’s just hope that the quantity & quality control keeps these discs at the standard that they are at the moment.

And to Ed thanks for finding this info out for me so that I was able to test them in their infancy.
