Datawrite Titanium 16x DVD+R Review| Datawrite Titanium 16x DVD+R |
Overview Datawrite have just sent me a sample of their brand new Titanium 16x DVD+R. It comes nicely packed in a 25 pack and has the now familiar Titanium grey top surface [A side note to this watch you don't pick up an 8x pack by mistake as they do look very similar].
Datawrite only use top dye manufacturers such as CMC, PRODISC and Ritek so you know when you look at the back of this disc you can expect quality. The new 16 speed continues this tradition.
At the moment [Oct 05] 16 speed discs are very new on the market so make sure you go to your drive manufacturers website and download the latest firmware to take advantage of the new high speed discs.
Under The Microscope The drives we are using in this test are the most common ones most of you are using. If you are not sure about your drive try and buy a sample disc pack from one of the online retailers or ask your local shop if they can sell them individually just to be sure.
A recording has been done on each of the drives with Nero 6.6.12 and then tested with the Nero Testing software. If you click on the image of the relevant drive below the graph will come up in a popup window.
Conclusion These discs keep up the Datawrite traditions of quality, in fact I will stretch to say the Titanium brand really is a flagship disc for Datawrite much more than their previous top discs. The burn was constant at the high speed and looking at the bottom of the disc we have a smooth burn. Playback was fine with no hiccups on our test Philips DVD player.
